Should I Have An X-ray For Foot Pain After An Injury?
Hello, my issue is that I slipped off a street curb and fell into the street on the 26th Jan, my foot was very sore and became very badly bruised from one side of my foot across the middle and down the other side. The day after it happened I could walk ok, and did not think it was going to be a problem, but about 2 weeks later it started to bother me especially when I have been resting or having my foot in a bent position. I went to my Dr. and she suggested that if it didn't get better soon I should have an x.ray. It is now 7 weeks since it happened. Do you think I should have an x.ray? Thank you Ms Newton
The symptoms as mentioned in your post can be attributed to musculo-skeletal injury. X ray of the foot will be helpful to rule out any pathological cause for the symptoms.
Symptomatic relief can be obtained by application of analgesic & muscle relaxant gel, intake of analgesics like Diclofenac (to be taken after food) + Pantoprazole (to be taken 30 minutes before meals). Supplements of Calcium & Vitamin D can be included in his diet which will help in strengthening of bones. Physiotherapy exercise will also be helpful.
So, it will be better to consult an Orthopedician for proper clinical examination. Till then, maintain adequate hydration & nutrition status, take proper rest and avoid stress.
Wishing a Good Health. Take care.
