Should I Take My Child To A Doctor For Swollen Left Eye And A Small Cut On Brow Bone After A Fall?

My child fell face first on the ice. Her left eye is very swollen and has a small cut on the brow bone. Her eye is like a little slit compared to her normal eye. She is acting fine otherwise...eating & playing but just says her eye hurts when she touches it. We had an ice pack on it for quite awhile. Is there anything I should be concerned about? Should I have her seen by a doctor?

Hi

If the bleeding from the cut had stopped, if the cut is not so deep requiring sutures, if you are sure that there is no injury to the eye ball/ no redness/ vision is normal, you need not worry.

You may give Paracetamol/ Ibuprofen for the pain (Dosage according to her weight). You may continue to give cold compresses.

It might take a week or so for everything to become normal.
How ever if you are doubtful about any of the things mentioned above, please do visit your doctor.

Best wishes.
