Should I Start Applying Tretinoin At Night For Acne?
Hi, I am 34 years old and I have super oily skin. Due to this I keep getting acne. I also have a lot of acne scars on my face. Right now I have about 2-3 acne on my face but it seems to increasing. I have started using clear gel and benzac 2.5% for the past 2 days. Pls suggest if I should add any thing else to this. Should I start applying tretenoin at night?
Hi!! I have gone through your history and according to me you should start using a facewash containing salicylic acid twice daily. You can continue with benzac 2.5 percent and add gel containing adapelene to be applied in minute amounts on the acne at night. Adapelene is a newer generation retinoid than tretinoin and is more effective and less irritating than tretinoin. So I would recommend you to go for Adapelene instead of tretinoin. Also take a course of antibiotic azithromycin 500mg daily for 3 consecutive days in a week. This treatment can be continued for 6-8 weeks. Besides this keep your face as dry as possible, avoid oiling of scalp, avoid applying any cream or moisturizer and reduce the intake of sugary foods. This treatment will surely help you. Hope for your speedy recovery.
