Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here... I have just had a pregnancy scan - I am 6wk and 2 days. a good heart beat was found, good ovarian activity (linked to progesterone prduction), yolk sac all present and correct but irregular shaped gestational sac - Most of this is positive but should I be concerned about the irregular shape? Dear Madam,

Irregular sac denotes that the pressure inside the sac is low. This happens usually when the baby inside is either jeopardized or is absent in the sac. However, your baby is reported to be normal with good hear beats. Therefore, the irregularity on the size of the sac is surprising. I would advice you to repeat ultrasonography after one week to reassess the sac as well as heart sounds of the baby. That should clarify the picture.

Mean while to safeguard the baby, start taking folic acid tablets daily.

I hope this gives you some clue.
