Should I Be Concerned About The Sudden Drop Of BP And The Baby's Heart Beat Being In The Third Trimester Of Pregnancy?
Im 24 weeks pregnant and i had a fall at work (im a diesel mechanic). My blood pressure 2 days ago was 120/60 and has been through out and today after the fall is 109/64 and bubbys heart rate went from a consistant 164 to now 141bpm. The doctor just shrugged it off but should i be concerned about a sudden blood pressure drop?
Hello and welcome to HCM, With the advancing pregnancy, many hemmodynamic changes are observed in the body of the mother. As the uterus enlarges, there is pooling of blood in the lower limb and thus a fall in blood pressure can occur. A fall in baby's heart rate should always be taken seriously and one should consult her obstetrician. You have already consulted your doctor and the fall is not that much so as to suggest any deleterious effect on the baby. You need to stay in constant touch with your doctor and consult him/her in case you observe any changes.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja P Wahal
