Should I Be Concerned About Neck Pain And A Swollen Lymph Node While Suffering From An Ear Infection?
I have an ear infection and likely a ruptured ear drum. I went to the Dr. on Thursday and was given antibiotics. They helped initially, but last night the pain came back and I have neck pain and a swollen lymph node. I continue to have a blocked ear canal and bloody/pus discharge. Should I be concerned or give it a day and see if the antibiotics continue to work?
If you are taking only antibiotics then the pain can occur so in that case you need to take painkillers till the infection reduces and pain becomes less severe. So my suggestion is to consult an Otorhinolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical examination can be done. If there is pus and blood discharge then probably the ear might needs manual drainage of the ears and along with it ear tubes can be placed to ease the drainage So you should continue taking antibiotics and along with it you should consult a doctor and get checked. To unclog the ear you can use decongestant nasal drops like Xylometazoline.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
