I am going to have hip replacement surgery next week. I am told to stop taking all anti-inflammatory medications or over the counter . (Tylenol is ok). Just want to make sure that I should also stop taking celebrex? (Actually the generic). Please advise.email: YYYY@YYYY Thanks, M

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Thanks for writing to Health Care magic, I am Dr , Muhammad Ahmad , I have read your question closely, I understand your concern and will be helping you with your health related problem.

Yes Celbex is an NSAID and it is an anti inflammatory med too if they are expecting you to stop taking anti inflammatory medication then Celbex should also be stopped to follow doctor's instructions. In case of pain you can discuss about using opioid or Non NSAID pain killers with your doctor.

I hope this answered your question, If you have more queries I am happy to answer you.
Regards.
