Red Pimples, White Fluid Filled, Itching. Have Tried Chemical Peeling, Nizoral Cream. Why Does It Flare Up?

hello, I m 39 and always have had smooth and nice skin on my face until 1 year ago when I started to have some little red pimples that have a center with transparent or white fluid and break easily, they and are painless but can be itchy, it started on my cheeks (nasolabial folds), I went to the GP and prescribed me Canesten HC cream which effectively helps but as soon as I stop using it the symptoms come back. Now they have expanded to the cheekbone area . I ve recently tried chemical peelings, reduction of moisturizing creams (I tend to have a dry skin), Nizoral cream for 2-3 weeks , symptoms improve but the cycle does not stop. I have a flare up for a couple of days, it gets better for few days and then have flare ups again, even when I use continuously the products mentioned above. Flares up occur in matter of few hours and stay for 2-3 days. I don t believe is acne as it is painless, and I have experience few acne pimples in my life and seems and feels different, it is not rosacea (confirmed by the GP doctor) as alcohol and heat/cold etc don t make it worse, I thought it might be seborrehic dermatitis but Nizoral has not stopped the flares, I don t have scalp issues. I have tried to establish what triggers it up but I have not seen any correlation. What is it? Thanks

Hi. seems more like a case of Perioral Dermatitis. You should consult your dermatologist and check with him about this

Try taking Oral Doxycycline 100mg twice daily. Doxycycline works very well in perioral dermatitis and continue it long after improvement begins to show.

Apply clindamycin gel twice daily topical
Use a mild cleanser like cetaphil cleanser.
stop using all moisturizers, face washes, soaps, sunscreens on you face for the time being.
I find this answer helpful
