Private Area Itchy And Red When I Started Taking Doxycycline. Is It The Normal Side Effect ?

Patient Notes to Doctor:
I started taking doxycycline hyc late 100mg nearly two months ago. My dermatologist informed me that I may get a yeast infection because they're a common side effect. A couple days ago, my private area became very itchy and progressively painful. It hurts very bad when I wipe after urinating. I decided to take a mirror to it and it's entirely red. It itches very bad and I even have a small patch of peeling skin next to my labias. I'm very irritated down there and I often have a thicker white discharge.

The problem appears to be due to a fungal infection of the area.Use of local antifungal creams and oral antifungal drugs will resolve the symptoms. It would be best if you and your partner are treated together to prevent reinfection .
