Pregnant. Severe Back Problems, Had Failed Back Surgeries. On Morphine And Ativan. What Are The Safe Pain Relieving Tablets?

History, serve back problems including 4 surgeries resulting in failed back surgery syndrome (fbss). Meds included about 6 months ago 100 mg morphine three times a day, 1 mg ativan every 12 hrs, plus norco 10/325 for break thru. Thru my request I asked my dr to try and lower the dose of morphine. 4 months ago 60 mg three times a day plus ativan & norco, about 5 weeks ago we dropped it to 30 mgs every three to fror times a day. Doitng out I'm pregnant about 3 weeks ago, I'm 7 weeks, yesterday, and since then I've dropped to 15 mg every 6-7 hrs and pushing it an hour longer every few days. Trying to Traper. However with my back issues I'm in A LOT of pain. Is my baby at harm from meds before knowing I was pregnant? My goal is 0 morphine in the next few months,.or sooner. What other pain relief do I have while pregnant.

Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
Morphine is habit forming and can cause an addiction in your child also. But since you are having a severe pain, it is not likely to be adequately controlled with mild pain killers. You can get some muscle relaxants prescribed form your physician.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
