Patient Of Ankylosing Spondylitis, Prescribed Omnacortil. What Is The Other Treatment Without Taking Omnacortil.

i am taking omnacortil 5mg once daily, indomethacin once daily and saaj ds twice daily since one month. Is it safe? My Hbl 27 was negative . But doctor told me i am a patient of ankilysing spondilitis. I do t want to take omnacortil. Please suggest me what is the other treatment without taking omnacortil.

Hi, omnacortil is a steroid. Long term usage of steroids is unsafe where as short cources are used in many diseases and is usually safe. There are many disease modifying agents and biologic drugs for A.S. As your HLAB27 is negative, you need to consider other diseases before you are labeled as a patient of AS. Consult a rheumatologist and you will see plenty of options. Hope this helped.
