Pain When Brushing Teeth. Tried OTC

A few days ago when i was brushing with my sonicare tooth brush over my lower left teeth , I felt extreme pain that took me to the floor! I never had a cavity, xrays always clean and I see the dentist 4 times a year. I just went a 2 weeks ago and clean bill. It doesn t hurt when i eat, clench my jaw, or brush with a manual tooth brush. The only thing I can think of is when i was playing with my dog (a Mastiff no less) I got a paw to the face when we were playing (accident of course). It didn t hurt and it didn t even leave a mark but I have noticed that when I close my mouth, my lips are shut but not my teeth. I tried OTC stuff but nothing helps.

dear friend.

thanks for sharing your concern.

your history requires little more clarity. A small fracture could be suspected as you have mentioned two very important features like a sharp pain that you experienced and the non union of the teeth in both the arches.

i would suggest you to see your dentist soon and get an OPG xray done.

this will help you to understand the pathology(could be a hair line fracture), any cyst, tumor, etc. which is causing pressure on other teeth.

since it lower jaw and if your age group is between 18 to 25 years, then you can suspect an impacted third molar too.

so please confirm it through xray after consulting a dentist.meanwhile take tab combiflam 500 mg every six hourly.

hope it helps.
thanks.

Hello,
Thanks for writing your query.

As per your description,

the teeth are malaligned or the jaw has dislocated by the dog'S PAW to your face.

The pain while brushing teeth can be due to gingival recession or cervical abrasion of teeth .

Trauma from occlusion causes sensitivity of teeth and gums usually.

I would suggest you to visit a dentist soon and get a thorough clinical as well as x-ray examination.

pLEASE avoid mouth opening too widely.
Bone loss in between the teeth also can cause such pain.

Bone grafting/ROOT planning has to be done if necessary.

Hope this clarifies.

REGARDS

Hi,
Welcome to the forum.
you might be having chronic toothache that occur because of any kind of injury or trauma to the tooth.
Toothache is a painful condition in your jaw and facial area. It usually occurs when a nerve in the tooth root is inflamed or irritated. It could also occur because of tooth decay, infection or even tooth loss.
One can prevent the majority of dental problems through flossing, brushing with fluoride toothpaste, and having teeth professionally cleaned twice a year.
Visit the dentist and get a x-ray done to see that is there anything to worry about.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
Regards.
