What Medical Condition Causes Swelling And Rashes In The Face, Nose And Cheek And Redness In The Eyelids?

Over a 2 month period of time I ve had a facial rash or allergy - swollen, red eyelids and it is now going down the sides of my nose and into the cheek and even on both sides of the chin. Just red, swollen, itching and burning and it has been 4 times during the 8 weeks. No changes in dietary, make up, etc. Nothing topical or over the counter is helping. Have thought about seeing a doctor but won t they just tell me I m allergic to something!?

Hello,

It seems to be urticaria. It has multiple causes like infection, food, and drug allergies, thyroid disorder, autoimmune and it occurs without any cause in one-third of individuals.

I would recommend you to take antihistaminic like tablet Cetrizine once daily at bedtime for 10 days.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Asmeet Kaur Sawhney, Dermatologist
