Oral Sex With Sex Worker, Fatigue, Fever, Diarrhea. HIV Positive?
hello Doctor. I just want to ask you something about hiv. the story is that i had sex with a prostitute, i used condoms but she gave me oral sex and i did give her too. Now i had a medical exam for immigration to canada. it was two days ago that i had the exam. going to the exam, months before i have been anxious and nervous for the exam. and right now, the waiting time for the results is driving me to the point of paranoia. i read some online symptoms about hiv for the first six months. by the way i had sex with the prostitute at the end of november 2013. i read the symptoms and some of it i experienced like fatigue, fever and diarrhea. but i none lasting for more than a day or two, some cause by my unhelathy lifestyle, i smoke and drink and stay up late at night, sometimes i dont eat, and my diarrhea sometime is caused by the food i eat. everywhere i look i see signs that i am positive. i know the best answer is to wait for the results. but i have been worried because i have a daughter and i am afraid of the consequences of my actions. i only did it one time but i am regretting it. please help

You had sex with protection with a commercial sex worker and I assume there was no visible injury or any history of STD in you or the sex worker. In a lot of individuals after having intercourse with a sex worker, symptoms like anxiety, stress, frustration etc develop. These are due to anticipatory anxiety. Due to anxiety other somatic symptoms like irritable colon, diarrhea, fatigue etc start manifesting. As the results are pending I would advise you to wait for results to come. Try relaxation exercises to beat anxiety or alternatively you can take low dose benzodiazepines also. Still if you are under severe paranoia then you can purchase HIV testing kit and get your blood investigated.
