Noticed Dark Brown Elongated Spot In The Little Toe. Could It Be Just A Mole Or Melanoma?

I have a dark brown spot that appeared on the inside of my little toe a few months ago. It looks almost like a freckle. It's completely flat (you can't feel it at all), uniform in color, but it isn't round. It's kind of elongated. I don't know how to describe it without a picture. I am going to get it checked out, but in the meantime I'm a little worried, since i read that melanoma is often found on the feet especially in women. Is it very possible that it is just a benign mole? Do benign moles ever just appear on toes like that?

Hi
Yours is a Mole which are generally a uniform color, brown or black, with a distinct border . Shape may be oval or round and usually smaller 5-6 mm. Melanoma is a cancer of pigment cells (melanocytes) and is a form of skin cancer. Melanoma doesn't always begin as a mole. It can also occur on otherwise normal-appearing skin. They are asymmetrical irregular shapes, irregular , notched or scalloped borders with many and uneven distribution of color and increasing in size with new growth larger than 6 mm and changes over time, with scaliness, itching, ,spreading of pigment from the mole into the surrounding skin, oozing or bleeding. Person having more tham 5o moles are having more risk of developing Melanom. Common Mole showing changes in color, size, shape with indistinct border is said to have dysplatic change(Dysplatic Mole) may turn to Melanoma.
