Noticed A Foraminal Narrowing A T2 Hyperintense Lesion Measuring 1.5 X 1.6cm On Left Superior Lobe Of Thyroid

Hi i just had an c spine MRI performed and they found besides multi level DDD and multiple moderately severe foraminal narrowing A T2 hyperintense lesion measuring 1.5 x 1.6 cm on left superior lobe of thyroid what should i do. Can this cause severe digestive issues that i have.

Thank you for asking on HCM!
First let me explain to you that you have three different pathologies. Thyroid nodule is found occasionally on MRI. If you were a patient in my clinic i would suggest you:
- As the actual dimensions of the nodule are over 1 cm, i would suggest you to do an ultrasound of the thyroid gland to get further information regarding the characteristics of the nodule.
- You need also to check the hormonal level (TSH, FT4 and FT3) to see if the nodule produces excess amount of hormones.
-Thyrocalcitonine is a tumoral marker that should be done in thyroid nodules.

After the result of these examinations your doctor may suggest you to do a fine needle biopsy aspiration of the nodule.
