My granddaughter had her tonsils removed last thursday, she was prescribed a generic equivalent for Hycet. She exhibited a swollen tongue, decreased urination, lethargy, her face became red and under her jaw swelled when the medicine was in her system and we had to physically hold her down to get her to take the medication. She did not sleep while on the dose of 4 ml that was prescribed by the doctor. We stopped the hycet and substituted Ibuprofen and Tylenol on an alternating basis and the red skin, swollen tongue and other symptoms seemed to subside. She is now having a very bad time with a severe amount of saliva that seems to choke her. Her doctor says we need to just make her take the Hycet equivalent, as he feel that the effects we saw were not a reason to stop the medicine. She is still having problems swallowing due to the removal of her tonsils, but is now saying that her ears hurt and she acts like she is hypersensitive to sound.
