Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 3 month old just had an ultrasound on his head and I received the results in my patient portal online tonight and my doctors is closed. Can you explain what the next paragraph I am sending you means in a way I can understand it. FINDINGS: The midline structures are normal. The corpus callosum is unremarkable. The lateral ventricles, 3rd ventricle and the 4th ventricle are unremarkable. The posterior fossa structures are grossly within normal limits. There is prominence of the extra-axial fluid spaces at the vertex along the convexities and interhemispheric fissure. These likely represent benign collections. The sulcation is age-appropriate. The parenchymal echogenicity is within normal limits.
IMPRESSION: Prominent extra-axial fluid spaces along the convexities with normal-sized ventricles is most likely related to benign extra-axial fluid collections of infancy. Follow-up with serial head circumference and neurological evaluation is recommended.
