Keep Getting A Pocket Of Puss In Hand, Fingers, Swelling, Hurting. Arthritis? What To Do?
On my right hand at the first knuckle to the right of the top of my nail on my ring finger , I keep getting a pocket of puss and I am force to lance it to keep it from swelling and hurting. I spoke to my doctor briefly about it and she said it has something to do with arthritis . I not sure what she said is correct. She is a great doctor, but it was just a quick look. When it swells it hurts so bad I can barely use my hand until I lance it, than the pain goes away and won t return until it returns. I probably will lance it twice a week and the puss is clear with a gooey texture.
A recurrent pocket of pus in the nail bed is due to infection. It occurs most commonly due to bacterial infection. Since, you are popping up the pus with the lancet (which may be unsterile), it can introduce the infection again and which in turn is causing recurrent infection. So, it is avvisable to visit your doctor for proper drainage of the pus under sterile conditions. A short course of antibiotics may be required to prevent recurrent infection.
