I've Recently Been In A Car Accident About 3 Weeks

I've recently been in a car accident about 3 weeks ago I'm on painkillers, anti inflammatory, and muscle relaxants.
Although I feel my whiplash is getting slightly better and movement in my right arm is getting better too.... not massively but, I understand the process is long for recovery in a chronic whiplash case.
I'm now as I'm able to move my neck a bit more I'm very literally hearing inside my head a grinding noise which i can locate as the very top part on my neck/spine...
It's caused me worry enough to get in touch I will see my gp but as I'll not be able to get an appointment right away I thought best to ask if this new grinding noise is something to cause worry and either go to a A&E department or try and get my doctor to see me for an emergency appointment.
This grinding noise when turning my head is a bit alarming when I can hear it within my skull rather then through hearing it through the ears.
Is this all normal or has the accident possible caused a little more then just real bad whiplash.
