Is Whooshing Sound In Ear Along With Headache A Cause For Concern?

I am currently experiencing an extreme swooshing or heartbeat in my ear. This is something that has been coming and going. At this time, it is the worst that it has ever been. I can not find an comfort. I noticed that when I press on my carotid artery that it goes away. However, I have a headache coming on. Should this be considered a medical emergency? Please help me!

Understanding your concern . As per your query you have whooshing sound in ear and headache a cause for concern . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like temporomandibular problem , stress and anxiety , localize change in blood pressure , impacted tooth , hearing loss and infection in ear . The symptoms can also occur due to condition like meniere's disease . In such condition yoga and meditation can be very helpful.I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination . Doctor may order tests like CT scan , vitals , examination with otoscope and rule out TMJ or impacted tooth problems . Doctor may prescribe supplement like ginkgo biloba , anti inflammatory , antibiotics ( gentamicin ) or may refer you to dentist in caseof TMJ or impacted tooth problem . For now apply dry warm compress to TMJ and ear , drink green tea thrice a day and try to make yourself relax . Doctor may also refer you to neurologist for migraine like problem .
