Is Tight Sensation Around The Thyroid Gland A Common Symptom Of Hyperthyroidism?
I have been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. I have lost over 20 pounds in the past 3 months. My only other symptom is an uncomfortable tight feeling in the area around the thyroid. Is this a common symptom? My health is otherwise good with plenty of energy for golf, walking and bike riding.

Weight loss is a common sign of hyperthyroidism. Tight feeling in the area around the thyroid is not a common symptom of this condition. Anyway, I can say that if you have a goitre (especial e big goitre that causes your hyperthyroidism), you can have throat tightness, cough and difficulty breathing or swallowing. My advice for you is to consult physically a local endocrinologist for a thyroid ultrasound and the thyroid tests (TSH, fT3, Ft4) that are very important to reach your exact thyroid diagnosis and for the right treatment.
