Is Throat Pain A Symptom Of Tonsillitis?

I ve been having throat pain (hurts to swallow and cough). Been spitting up a lot of mucus. My thyroid glands are tender. I was having a lot of ear pain yesterday and now I cannot hear very well in that same ear. Do I have strep throat or tonsillitis? (I have been having these symptoms for 3-4 days now)

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Diagnosis of tonsillitis is by clinical examination of tonsils. Streptococcal pharyngitis by lab tests. Throat pain or other symptoms given by you may happen in both. So get examined by local doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
