Is There Any Harm In Stopping Taking In Clonezpam Tablet?

My husband takes clonezpam and has been taking it for over 5 years and lately all the doctors are giving him a hard time about it they don t understand that it is dangerous for him to stop taking it cold turkey, anyways we found one pill but it is 3 years past the expiration date he already took it what will happen?

Clonazepam belongs in the family of drugs called benzodiazepines. IN general these drugs are tapered off slowly particularly if they are used for a long period of time as in your husband's case.

The tapering is to reduce the risk of withdrawal symptoms. You can discuss this concern with his doctor.

In terms of taking the tablet 5 yrs post expiration, it would be best if he does not repeat this because there is a risk that the medication would have altered and there may be side effects.
In addition , it is unlikely to be effective.
