Is There A Procedure Available To Improve Eyesight And Difficult Vision With Eye Pain In Childhood?
Hello Doctor, My daughter is 5 yrs 9 mnths old and recently she has been advised to wear glasses as she is suffering from far sightedness, eye pain, difficult vision etc. The power in her right eye is 0.25 whereas her left eye is 1.5. The optometrist suggested that she has to continue wearing glasses throughout her life. My question is whether there is some medication or procedure to improve her eye sight so that she can get rid of her glasses in the near future! If she keeps wearing the specs is it going to benefit in improving her eye sight in the long run? Thanks & Regards, Soma

It seems from the history that your 5 year 9 months old daughter is having refractive error with power of 0.25 in right eye and 1.5 in left eye.
The treatment available for this condition is mainly by correction of refractive error by using spectacles.
Since the power increases in this age group she required undergo followup tests atleast once in a year.
Continuously wearing spectacles prevents rapid increase in refractive error.
Once she becomes around 15 years old she can use contact lenses and after she becomes 21 she can undergo laser refractive surgery.
