Is The Diagnosis Of UTI While Urine Specimen And Culture Being Negative Right Diagnosis?

I recently was diagnosed with a uti but my urine specimen was negative and the culture also was negative. I ve been prescribed a 7 day plan of Cirpo at 500mg bid. Is this appropriate with a negative specimen and negative culture? The culture results took a couple of days since the time of my urgent care visit but my initial symptoms have improved. Do I need a longer course of treatment? I m a 46 yr old male.

Hi.
Thanks for your query and understanding due to incomplete knowledge.
First of all there has to be a problem for which you must have gone to the ER.
Ciprofloxacin must have been prescribed only on the clinical ground.
-The culture and sensitivity is done to see if you need additional antibiotic if the culture report is positive,
- It may not come positive in all the cases and particularly if you have taken even a single dose of an antibiotic.
I find this answer helpful
