Is Taking Phenergan With Remeron Safe For Vertigo?

My friend has been on meclazine for 20 years for vertigo. she is recently feeling over tired.....she is bipolar.I hve a PhD in philosophy and have studied much alternative medicine. I know there has not been another med for vertigo in years but recenty phenergan has been prven helpful. She takes 25 mg 3x day. her recent pyschiatric drugs are Olazapine 5 mg 1x day, depakote 500 mg 2x day lamiictal 150 mg day. she takes 30 mg of remeron at night. What are your feelings about this combination and ?....should not she be given a chance to eliminate the meclazine as I have seen many clients have a psychosis type side effects with meclazine most severe the older and longer they take it. Thandk you s0 much for any help or opinion you can share...........Dr. Susun Mooore

Hi,

It may result in harmful interactions. Taking Phenergan while on Olanzapine, Lamictal, Depakote and Remeron may increase side effects such as drowsiness, blurred vision, dry mouth, heat intolerance, flushing, decreased sweating, urinary retention, abdominal cramping, constipation, irregular heartbeat, confusion, and memory problems.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
