Is Taking Micronized Progesterone Safe During Pregnancy?
Hi, Doctor has suggested to take Microgest 200mg (Micronized Progestrone) 2 times in a day during pregnacy. Is taking Micronized Progestrone safe during pregnacy? Many people are not suggesting it. What is the advantage? Are there any side effects? Please Advise
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Micronized progesterone is a natural form of progesterone derived from plants, which resembles human hormone. Progesterone supplementation in pregnancy might be required for continuation of pregnancy and to prevent abortion, under the circumstances when endogenous production of hormone might not be adequate. Kindly take the medication as suggested by your doctor and do the necessary follow-up as advised. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best. Regards, Dr.Ashakiran.S., MBBS., MD.
