Is Taking Levaquin Safe And Effective In The Treatment Of Sinusitis?

My doctor prescribed levaquin to treat my sinus infection. He said my infection was probably viral, although I read that this antibiotic treats only bacterial infection. Also, I generally have problems with muscles and joints and i read that this antibiotic makes those problems worse. In sum, I read that Levaquin should be used only as a last resort. By the way, I am 68 years old.

Levaquin is composed of 'Levofloxacin', which is an antibiotic, which is used to treat a number of bacterial infections.

Even though the infection seems to viral in origin, it would decrease the immunity and might precipitate secondary bacterial infection. Hence, a course of antibiotics is generally prescribed in such instances.

Kindly take the medication as prescribed by your doctor. You can take additional supportive measures like steam inhalation and salt water gargling, which will help you to recover well.
