Hello,

I can understand your concern. Carbimazole is used to treat hyperthyoidism so it is the right medication for you. It does have potential to cause side effects which are minor and many patients do not even experience it.

These include stomach discomfort which can be cured by sticking to simple easy-to-digest food. If you feel headache or joint pains, you can take a painkiller that suits you. In case you develop itchy rashes, I would advise to consult your doctor as you may be allergic to it. Hair loss and change in taste perception will go away in few days if you feel it.

Only one major but rare side effect is noted for this drug which is reduced white blood cell counts. So if you develop sore throat, ulcers in mouth, unusual bleeding or fever, contact your doctor immediately.

This medicine does not require much precautions to be taken except remembering to take it at same time every day. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember and if it is already a time for second dose, take two doses together.

I hope this information helps. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. Take care.

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
