Is Surgery The Only Solution For Impingement On Spine In L3 4 And 5 Areas?

I was diagnosed with impingement on my spine in the L3 4 and 5 areas causing severe pain shooting down my left side. I have some numbness in the leg as well and I m starting to walk with a dropped foot. I m trying to get in to see a back specialist asap. Is surgery the only solution?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Taking count of your symptoms it seems like a nerve compression. I believe surgery is the only treatment in this case since you are having severe pain and numbness.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
