Does Degenerative Disc Disease Cause Extreme Pain In The Neck And Spine?

i have had severe c spine, t spine and l spine pain x 5 days, bad enough that walking and coughing made it a lot worse. went to emergency room last night and was diagnosed with c spine, t spine and l spine degenerative disc disease and lumbar 3-5 and s1 bulging discs. I have had problems with neck pain since a car wreck in 1987 but not any problems with spines. was sent home with pain medicine and muscle relaxers, and bedrest. is this pain going to go away afer this treatment???
