Is Spasm Like Pain On Lower Left Side Suggestive Of Kidney Stones?

Hi, my name is Melissa and I have some muscle spasm/pain on my lower left side. Not sure if it is the start of a kidney stone or if it is just a muscle spasm. My urine is clear and I drink plenty of water. Are there other signs that I should be looking for if it is a kidney stone?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello Melissa,

Apart kidney stone, what passes through my mind is ovulation pain. So, I'd recommend to watch if the pain is:
- persistent?
- or if you feel it more on ovulation period?
- do you feel more gas or bloating?

So, this type of abdominal pain is a bit difficult to ensure the right diagnosis is made.

You can send a sample of your urine to the lab directly, and ask to run urine analysis together with microscopic examination to see the presence of stones.

All the best.
