Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain deep cleaning is done when you have deep seated infectious deposits over the teeth n the subgingival area [under the gums or the area of teeth covered with gums]..
When deep cleaning is done there is some level of inflammation in the gums as well as the complete healing as well as resolution of inflammation and infection cannot occur immediately after cleaning..
In case if you smoke after deep cleaning procedure, it can lead to increased irritation of the gums with heat and smoke that can increase inflammation, healing time is also prolonged as well as the reattachment of the gums to the teeth surface that has lost due to infection is not proceeded completely..
So as you are a doctor I would not tell you that smoking is bad and all as you know it very well..
I would rather tell you to avoid smoking as it will harm you and is not only person to person response and happens with all rather can be more or less..
So better for you not to smoke for better and faster healing..
In case if you have so much craving to smoke you can take Nicotine Replacement therapy like Nicotine chewing gums and nicotine patches as they help in reducing craving by maintaining nicotine levels in blood..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
