Is Smoke Harmful During Pregnancy?

Yesterday there was a big roof fire in a building next to my office (c. 100 yards away). We didn't open any windows, and the air condition was shut down but we could still smell some smoke in the office. After a couple of hours I requested to leave work and work from home as I am 29 weeks pregnant. My throat is a little scratchy, but I didn't have to cough or anything like that. Should I be worried?

Thank you for asking on HealthcareMagic.com, providing better healthcare for you. I have gone through your case and I can understand your concern. Yes smoke exposure or smoking is harmful during pregnancy, so should be avoided. There's nothing to worry about your sore throat, just get enough fluids 6-8 glasses daily and hot teas, do gargles with salt water. Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions. Wishing you good health. Please don't forget to give your valuable feedback and five star rating, to help me assist you in a better way. Click at 'I Find This Answer Helpful too'.
