Is Sinusitis Associated With Sore Throat And Nasal Congestion?
Hello, my daughter came home from school with headache, sore throat and nasal congestion. I gave her some Tylenol for the headache, gave her a shower to help her breathe then she went to bed. 3am she woke me up and she is really swollen at her nose area and is complaining of breathing. Is this sinusitis? Im worried. Thanks,Worried Mom
Nasal congestion can lead to nasal swelling mild. Headache, sore throat and nasal congestion are symptoms of upper respiratory infection. Sinusitis may also be present. Her breathing difficulty is due to severe nasal congestion.
For treatment take tab. Tylenol every 6th hourly, tab. Sinarest or combination of chlorpheneramine maleate and phenylephrine, daily twice for 3 days. Do steam inhalation once daily and warm salt water gargle daily twice. If your daughter's symptoms don't subside, then you need to consult a pediatrician.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
