Is Replacing Tylenol With Naproxen Safe Without Medical Consultaion?
I have Gout in my foot. I had been taking Naproxen for Arthritis and was advised by the Dr. (student in training) to try Extra strength Tylenol which I changed 5 weeks ago but still have the Naproxen on hand if I didn t get along with the Tylenol. Just wondering if I could change back to the Naproxen without going back to the Dr,s office which may take a few days to get in to see him.
Hello and thank you for your question. In general naproxen is safe to use for short term pain like gout. If you have ulcers or gastritis, kidney problems or heart failure then you would need to check with your doctor before using it. In those conditions it can cause problems. Regards
