Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is Reopening Of Wound Possible Post Extraction Of Wisdom Tooth?
I woke up with a small cut/hole in my gums behind my backmost teeth on the bottom left. It feels exactly like when I had a hole in that same spot from when I got my wisdom teeth surgically removed. its as if the wound reopened. But it has been almost a year so is that possible?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain it is possible for a hole to appear at the site from where tooth was extracted oy in case if the healing has not completely occurred or any tooth fragment has been left unextracted accidently leaving a hole on that place.. But if the healing was completed then appearance of hole is not possible and you should also take a close look that whether you see a depression in that place with an intact gum cover over it or even the gums are cut and a deep hole is visible.. In case if it is jus a depression and have intact gums nothing to worry as due to less bone formation depression can be seen.. But if there is cut through open gums and a deep hole consult your dentist and get evaluated and an x Ray can help in diagnosis..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
