Is Pulse Of 117 A Cause For Concern?

Hi. I was recently discharged from the hospital due to preeclampsia. I was told to check my blood pressure regularly. I have felt strange all day. My blood pressure is normal but my pulse is 117. Is this bad? I feel like it s pounding out of my chest

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Pulse rate above 100 is abnormal and should be evaluated. In most of the cases high pulse rate is due to excessive anxiety and nothing pathological will be there.

You can recheck the pulse rate with a cool head and if it is persistently high, an ECG is required to rule out cardiac arrhythmia.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Wishing you all the best.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
