Is Prolonged Menstruation While On Depo Shot Approximately A Month Post-partum Normal?

I got had a baby in late September and started my period again 5-6 weeks later (approximately Nov 1). Within two days of my cycle I got the depo shot. I bled for an entire month and have not had a period since (no more depo since). I was sexually active. Is this ok or to be concerning?

Hi..Can understand your concern..As per your query about prolong menstruation post partum after depo shot ....Prolong bleeding for about a month can be due to hormonal imbalance or it can also be a side effect of depo as it can cause bleeding in between the periods...after that you didn't get your periods which may be because you're a lactating mother and its normal after delivering a baby that periods can be missed few months or even a year..You need not to worry and consult a gynaecologist if you are feeling some symptoms Or having any doubt regarding getting pregnant you can do home pregnancy test.If not ,then also you should once see a gynaecologist for getting your hormonal check up and getting medicine to regulate the menstrual cycle.I hope the information helps you...Take care.
