Is Pregnancy Safe For A Woman With STD?

My 31 married daughter of 4 years have been trying desperately over the last two years to conceive a child. She unfortunately acquired an SDT virus in college from another man. She wasn t aware of this at the time, and is ashamed to even talk about this to her own mom. She has married to a new and WONDERFUL husband, but he has had some episodes of brain tumors which, for the last 5 years have been benign, after a year of chemotherapy and radiation which ended last April. His last MRI, which was just last week, was NO CHANGE, and ALL IS WEL, as well as the past year...........His doctors are at Jefferson Memorial Hospital which has a GREAT reputation...........As a Mom, other than just support, and doing the Race for Hope , for a CURE, which was just last Saturday..........PLEASE TELL ME IF THERE ARE ANY OPTIONS, for them to conceive a child NOW and have a child? My son-in-law is on a 4 month MRI, precautionary, check up........and it puts our ENTIRE family on edge...........every time..........EVERYTHING has been negative, he has even checked with John Hopkins Hospital just to make sure that what he is doing in Philadelphia is the BEST option............They said, IT WAS!! Just please help me, so that I can give my daughter and my son-in-law CONFIRMATION, that all will be well, other than just support, which my husband and our family have given him endlessly!!!

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

* As per the narration and my clinical experience co relation, the female with STD can become pregnant with due precautions and strict guidelines under her OBGY and infectious disease specialist to take care of during and after the pregnancy.
* Certain medications she has to take before conceiving, during pregnancy and after child birth in regard to her active or passive status of STD.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
