Is Paracetamol Overdose Harmful During Optic Shingles Recovery?

My 87 year olld motheris recovering from optic shingles and has severe nerve pain . she was prescribed lyrica but it did not suit her ,sleeping too much and disoriented and weakness in her legs . she is now only taking paracetmol but evry 4 hours often more than 8 in 24 hours . this is happening for a week now.doctor is not overly concerned could she b overdosing ?Thank you

Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Overdose of Paracetamol is not good for the body.
The dosage should be taken every 6th hourly. Daily dose should preferably not exceed more than 2 grams.
Excess consumption of the drug is hepatotoxic and can cause liver damage and acute liver cell failure, which one needs to be careful of.
Kindly ask her to consume large quantities of fluids and restrict her intake of the drug as recommended and not consuming overdose.
