Is Painful Swelling Under The Jaw Related To Having Surgery For Tumor In Neck?

I have a swollen area on the underside of my jaw. Its in the right corner, it may be the lymph node. It gets very swollen from time to time and even hurts to open my jaw when it gets really swollen. What do you think it could be?

In 2013 I had a surgery for a tumor in my neck. Its now 2015 and I'm going through this. Could they be related in anyway?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain swelling under the jaw can be either due to a swollen Salivary Gland which is Submandibular Salivary Gland in that area..
The other cause can be swollen lymph nodes.
The confirmation can be done by consulting an Oral Surgeon and get an MRI scan done..
In case if it is a lympe node then recurring swelling can be due to infection or Inflammation in that area..
If it is Salivary Gland swelling can be due to either recurring infection or clogging of duct of the salivary gland..
Treatment will depend upon the cause..
As of now you can take painkiller like Ibuprofen for pain relief..
Do cool compresses over swelling and take soft diet with more of fluids..

Thanks and regards.
