Is Pain In Calf With Bruising Concerning?

Fell down a few stairs Saturday morning. Felt Charlie horse type pain in my calf. Have been icing and elevating it. Now I don t have Pain unless I try to walk. Today it s starting to show bruising. Don t feel any better today than Saturday - no real signs of improvement. Difficult being so immobile. 2 questions: should I see a doctor and can I get on a plane (which I will be doing in 2 weeks).

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Thanks for writing to us,

I have studied your case with diligence.
As per your history pattern there can be tear in ankle ligament and calf muscle leading pain.

I will advise to do MRI ankle/leg for soft tissue involvement.
Till time you can continue physiotherapy exercises and also use supportive splint or brace.
Physiotherapy like ultrasound and TENS will help in early healing.

If there is complete ligament tear then arthroscopic ankle ligament repair can be done.
Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.

Wishing you good health.
