Is Pain Due To Pinched Muscle In Right Lower Back A Cause For Concern?

I work out with kettelbells and run everday to keep in shape. I feel great usually but last week I think I pinched a muscle in my right lower back. I took a few days off, and it started felt better! I m back to my regular workouts now, but when I sit down(even briefly),I get pain instantly and have to get back up and move around. Running doesn t bother it at all, either! This has never happened before! Will this subside on it s own with time,or get worse? Thanks for listening!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Yes. It might be. A prolapse of inter-vertebral disc decreases the calibre of the spinal canal and cause pinching of nerves originating from the spinal cord. This might cause severe low back pain.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ajeet Singh, General & Family Physician
