Is Pacemaker Advisable For Atrial Fibrillation And Arrhythmia Of Heart?

I have atrial fibrillation for 10 years & have been on a beta blocker Sotol but I fainted yesterday for the second time after upping the dosage to get the heart in rhythm. I take 80 mg in morning & 120 mg at night. My cardiologist is now thinking about a pacemaker. I wonder if another medicine could be used. I have low blood pressure rat is about 55 now with this medicine.

hi
for your problem of af the best treatment are beta blockers to control the heart rate
if the response to these drugs is poor the next line of drugs can be calcium channel blockers like verapamil & diltiazem.
cardioversion is the next choice again depending on certain conditions, clinical & echo findings
pacemaker is the ultimate choice to control both atrial & related fast ventricular rates as your cardiologist knows the specific cause for atrial fibrillation
all the best
take care
