Hello,

You are suffering from numb sensation on the scalp post head butting. You have not vomited and do not feel dizzy. Numbness after head injury is most commonly associated with damage to the somatosensory cortex which is responsible for processing sensory information such as textures and temperatures.

While there is a possibility that sensation may be restored through spontaneous recovery, it may sometimes require treatment. Numbness can last a few weeks, months, or years and be accompanied by a burning, prickling, or tingling sensation. You are suggested to get clinically examined by a GP, you may be referred to a neurologist for further management.

You may have to get blood tests and imaging tests (X-ray, CT/MRI) done so that the factor causing the symptoms can be detected and also treated. You will be given conservative treatment, physical and massage therapy, electrical stimulation (if required, etc.). Get nerve conduction velocity tests done. Avoid any type of addiction, smoking, alcohol, drugs, etc.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
