Is Little Dizziness Post Blunt Trauma To The Bottom Of Spine A Cause For Concern?
I m 67 yrs. old and just fell 10 ft. to concrete several days ago, and had blunt trauma to the very bottom of my spine. Was taken to trauma ctr and x-rayed/scanned, and fortunately nothing found broken. Just curious about a little bit of dizziness when I turn by rotating my spine, and if I stand up rapidly. Lastly, how long does it usually take to heal from this type of injury?
You fell and had a blunt trauma to the bottom of the spine, presently you are having dizziness while rotating the spine. Blunt trauma to the spine or the head may cause dizziness or feeling of weakness for a few days. Other causes of dizziness are dehydration, hypotension, anemia, concussion, anxiety, etc.
You are suggested to take fluids and water, food in proper time so that your vitals are normal. Do not skip meals and stay at rest. Avoid addictions if any. Do not do any heavy work and do not drive. Get connected to a Physical therapist. It should go away in a few days. If not, get a follow up clinical examination done.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
