Hi,

It is common for babies of this age to have motion once in 5-7 days. Unless it cause discomfort / excessive cry / recurrent vomiting / abdominal distension, this need not be taken as constipation and no need to treat. If above said symptoms are present, we can use suppositories like bisacodyl once in while. Oral laxatives are usually not needed.

Orange juice and grapes, having good fibre content can ease the motion, although I usually don't suggest before 5-6 months but doctors vary in their practice. If at all giving, strict care should be taken to ensure water and hand hygiene.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
