Hello. Thanks for writing to us at healthcaremagic
Fractional Co 2 Laser is commonly used for resurfacing
acne scars.
It induces new
collagen synthesis and thereby improves the appearance of acne scars.
However,
Laser treatment for acne scars is not without side effects.
There is Post procedural
Erythema which may last for a week or two. You may be required to take a leave from work during that period Or else you may risk development of Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation/PIH.
After procedure, sun protection should be strict by staying indoors as much as possible and regular use of a broad spectrum sunscreen, throughout the day to prevent the development of PIH, which is a very common complication in skin of color.
Moreover, you will require 3-4 sessions of Laser depending on the severity of acne scars.
The percentage improvement in acne scars that you may expect after 3-4 sessions would vary anywhere between 30-70%.
I will suggest that you discuss about all these things with your treating doctor so as to avoid any disappointments after the procedure.
Regards
